Ash Wednesday
February 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Ash Wednesday marks the onset of Lent. The early church determined that the Lenten period of fasting and renewal should correspond to the period of Christ’s fasting (Matthew 4:2) and by counting forty days back from Easter (excluding Sundays which remain “feast” days). Hence the arrival at the Wednesday seven weeks before Easter. Wednesday, February 17 at 6:30 p.m. we will gather in the sanctuary for a brief service of worship to focus our thought on the season of Lent around the theme “Repentance/Turn Around.”

Thank God It’s Friday: Encountering the Seven Last Words from the Cross
William H. Willimon
Christ's seven last words from the cross have long been a source of reflection, challenge, and soul-searching. These simple statements contain the full range of human emotions and divine self-revelation: grief, compassion, despair, forgiveness, physical need, the promise of redemption. In many ways they embody the core of the gospel. In this brief book one of today's most noted churchpersons and preachers confronts us with the seven last words' claim on our lives.
Cost of the book is $10 and will be available beginning February 6 following worship.
