What a great month April has been. To start off I would like to say thank you all so very much for all of the support you have given to me in my first few months here. Secondly I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the remodeling of the two cabins at John Knox Ranch. Through all of your help we were able to raise over $700.00 in just two weeks.  The youth group and several adult volunteers went to John Knox Ranch on April 18th and 19th with one goal to restore two cabins by repainting, insulating, screening, cleaning and putting a new ceiling up on the cabins. I heard from several people at John Knox Ranch say that we were the hardest working group that they have had out there and they invited us to come back to help them prepare for the summer camping season.

Next we would like to inform you of a few of the upcoming events. Starting on May 1st and continue through August 31st, the youth group will be collecting recycled paper for the bins located in the parking lot. Our goal for this summer will be to collect 31 tons of paper. We can not do this with out you help, so please ask your neighbors, friends and co-workers to recycle all their paper at the church. If you have trouble putting the paper in the bin just place it in the box in the youth room and the youth group will put it in the bin for you. Coming up on the first Sunday of May (the fourth) the youth will be leading the worship and we would like to see everyone there.

Also coming up within the next month the youth will begin collecting items for the garage sale on May 18th through June 18th. The Garage sale will be on Friday June 20th and Saturday the 21st. Please tell everyone you know to come have a look around and support the youth group. Once again thank you so much for all you continued support of the me and the youth of the church. Until next time remember...

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man."

-Proverbs 3:3-4

William McGinnis

Hello to all of you who I am looking forward to get to know over the next several months. My name is William McGinnis; I am originally from Kerrville , Texas and have lived there the majority of life. I am a junior at Texas Lutheran University where I am working on my Theology Degree with concentration in the Youth Ministry field. I have worked as a camp counselor at Camp Chrysalis , also I was a member of the camp's travel team, through this experience I learned how to lead groups on their faith journeys as well as many new ideas that I plan on utilizing while teaching the youth group. My goals while working at the First Presbyterian Church is to build and strengthen the youth group, open the youth’s eyes to new and exciting varieties of learning about God and teach them ways to serve others around our town, our state and our nation. I am extremely excited to be with the church and I am looking forward to growing in my faith through all of you. Once again thank you so much for this amazing opportunity and if you would like to contact me feel free to e-mail me at presbyterian_youthman@live.com I will respond as quickly as possible.

Thank You So Much and God Bless

Mission Presbytery Summer Camps

Mission Presbytery is extremely proud of the quality summer camp programs at John Knox Ranch, across Texas and in Colorado. An atmosphere of acceptance and caring pervades the camp programs and these programs are a vital part of this presbytery’s ministry to its youth. The camp provides our youth an opportunity to grow in faith as the camp community lives simply and close to nature, worships, and seeks through all activities to experience God’s love.

Your Session believes that summer camp for our youth is a vital part of our educational ministry. As in past years, one-half the cost of camp will be underwritten by the church for each of our church youth. Contact the church office for information on camp or for registration forms. You will want to register early as camps fill up quickly!

Registration can be accomplished in one of two ways. This year you can register on the Internet by going to www.johnknoxcamp.org or by picking up a registration blank at the church. A $50.00 deposit will hold a spot for your child and you can even use your Visa or MasterCard.
